Position Summary:

The Specialist (Nursing), in coordination with the General Physician, is responsible for providing technical support and clinical expertise to the Head of Vaccination in all aspects of coordination, supervision and implementation of assured vaccination, vaccine safety and vaccine quality in accordance with the vision of the Supreme Council of Health and as per laws and regulations of the World Health Organization. The Specialist (Nursing) will be particularly responsible for pre-vaccine and follow up clinical examination and in providing proper advice and guidance on immunization programs. The role holder will also be accountable for enhancing the community health awareness on the importance of child and adult immunization in minimizing the vaccine preventable communicable diseases.

Nature and Scope of Position:

1. Work closely with the Head, Vaccination and General Physician, Vaccination, to implement the goals, objectives and strategic plans for the Public Health Department in the Health Protection, mainly on communicable diseases and all activities related to vaccination;
2. Provide leadership, direction and support for all the nursing staff towards high quality of care and service.
3. Provide support in ensuring the WHO standards in immunization programs and vaccination applications.
4. Responsible for coordinating free immunization for children from birth through adulthood;
5. Responsible for administering implementation of adult & travellers clinic vaccinations.
6. Provide support on the successful coverage of immunizations as per the National Travellers’ Vaccination program.
7. Responsible for coordinating all other immunizations referred by the relevant authorities of the SCH, Public Health Department or other health authorities.
8. Provide clinical support and guidance in organizing massive immunization campaigns and out break vaccinations or any similar situations of national emergencies;
9. Provide support in coordinating and monitoring the vaccination programs and practices through Primary Health Centers, Private sector clinics and Organizations such as Qatar Petroleum.
10. Participate and coordinate educational and training services to healthcare providers, community health fairs etc.
11. Participate in major decision making processes for the implementation of various programs of the Vaccination Center including budget planning and expenditures.
12. Support establishing standards of performance with which to measure effectiveness and efficiency of nursing staff consistent with the Supreme Council of Health policies and procedures.
13. Responsible for Identification of training needs of staff & nurses in particular and conduct staff training.
14. Supervise the data entry & registration on vaccination and review monthly and annual vaccine statistics.
15. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Head of Vaccination or other Supervisory Officers.
